4/6/2023 0 Comments 1935 wood runaboutThe owner sent Phil DuPre the shipwright, up to Las Angeles to inspect and survey the Boat. After sitting in a dry garage for a couple of years, she was put up for sale not having been in water since she left New York. Sadly, her owner passed on and she was eventually donated to a local benefits auction, Bought sight unseen by a boater in Los Angeles, she was towed to Florida and then trailered to inland Los Angeles. "Pelican" went to upstate New York and spent summers on many lakes including Lake Niagra and Chautauqua Lake and the Niagra River. Those Clinker-built mahogany lapstrake hulls are unmistakeable. The company started in Cleveland, Ohio in 1875, then moved to Sandusky, Ohio. Layman are known for their lovely lines, steadiness in the water and quality construction. "Pelican" started life in Ohio on Lake Erie at the Layman Boat Works in 1965 The restoration of a 50 year old runabout All restoration records available upon request. Engine is mid 80s Marine Power 350 with healthy sounding 4″ copper exhausts. Exterior refinish and new upholstery 2006. Full restoration including 5200 bottom in the mid 1980s. Unique 1932 Chris Craft 21′ triple cockpit featuring twin windshields with wings, wood steering wheel, spotlight and dual trumpet air horns. Quickload aluminum tandem axle bunk trailer with surge brakes, mag wheels, spare and guides. Chrysler hydraulic shift assist transmission. Powered by a non original Chrysler Hemi 331, nicely detailed with chromed valve covers. Very sharp Chris Craft Custom in excellent condition.
